Weighted Blanket Giveaway

When I published “I Think I Might Be Autistic” as an e-book earlier this summer, I thought about giving part of the proceeds to a charity that supports autistic people. Then I thought some more and realized that, “Hang on, I know lots of autistic people!” Why not use the proceeds to give back to the community directly?

Sooooo .  . . thanks to everyone who bought the e-book (or the print version!), I’m excited to announce the first giveaway for a 38″ x 50″ weighted blanket from Mosaic Weighted Blankets. The blanket pictured about is mine, which I absolutely love and use every day. The winner will be able to choose from the fabrics and colors that Mosaic currently has available.

  1. My little guy carries a LOT of anxiety and I’m sure his nervous system could benefit greatly from a weighted blanket.

  2. I wish I could enter, it’s a wonderful idea! I am thinking of making my own weighted blanket, especially for summer, because I simply can’t sleep without some sort of weight on top of me. So even in the middle of summer I often sleep underneath a feather duvet. Which is a bit warm, lol.

  3. As a kid, I used to wedge myself between my mattress and the box spring, or under the couch cushions, to feel comforted. I think that a weighted blanket might be a *smidge* easier.

Hint: My birthday is Sept 13th. 😀

  4. This would be awesome! I always have to double up my heaviest blanket for my son. Unfortunately that gets hot here in Texas.
What a great company! Really cool fabrics too!
And now that I know about your book, I’m getting it!

  5. I’d love to win this! I had a borrowed weighted blanket for a while, and the weight was awesome. Sadly it was made of a horrible fabric so I didn’t really use it. But this one looks like a nice fabric.

  6. Hi, unfortunately I can’t enter because I’m in the UK, so this comment is about a completely different thing. I seem to have rambled about my slightly scary relationship drama quite a bit in the comments of your blog, so I just wanted to let you know I finally broke up with him. It’s Facebook Official. Relieved.

      1. 🙂 Now I’m thinking I should have commented on an old post because I’ve massively derailed this thread. Sorry!!

        1. And why is derailment a bad thing? Conversations evolve naturally. We don’t often get a chance to let a conversation derail in real life because we’re too tense about the social side of things. So I think it’s nice that we can do it online. 😉

  7. I’ve never had a weighted blanket of my own, but I need one… My anxiety is just through the roof recently. I am an aspie and I graduated this past May, so now I am pressured to get a job and go to college. A weighted blanket would be the best thing in the world.

  8. Oh man! This is awesome! Enter me please. 🙂

I hope you’re not using ALL the proceeds for giveaways though. That book was excellent, you deserve quite a bit of monetary reward for it I think.

  9. So how many times can we enter? lol Great idea, even if I don’t win but I would LOVE the blanket!!

  10. I Sleep Under A Very Heavy Mink Blanket Because Of My Anxiety. A Weighed Blanket Would Be A Lot More Comfortable And A Lot Less Bulky

  11. Great giveaway! I’ve been working on saving up for a weighted blanket for a while now…would be amazing to win one!

  12. Hi Cynthia,
I too was diagnosed later in life at the age of 44 with Asperger’s. I’m married to a N.T. as well. I have read many books on my condition, I’d like to read your’s some day soon.
I also have a weighted blanket that calms me at night but my wife doesn’t like it. I tend to throw it off on her when I get warm.
I was interested to hear that Aspie’s have trouble with sleep. Even though I work in a physical job, I use melatonin as well as 5 HTP to help me sleep.

  13. I’d love this blanket for myself and my dd. We both have anxiety so I think we’d get some relief.

  14. I would LOVE to win this weighted blanket. I personally have SPD (wasn’t diagnosed until my son was diagnosed with Asperger’s a few years ago) and Early Onset Parkinson’s. All of these years, I just thought (and was told) that I was just over-sensitive and “being a baby” when in actuality it was SPD issues. Since I haven’t been able to afford to buy one, I often use my 70+ pound dog as a “weighted blanket” when needed, but she gets restless and doesn’t like staying in place for as long as I need her. 😉 It definitely helps, but for me and my dog’s sake, I should get a real weighted blanket…lol Fortunately, my son doesn’t seem to have this issue (needing a weighted blanket), but if/when I do get one in the future, I will definitely have him try it to see if there are times that it does help him, too. Thanks for offering this giveaway!

  15. My son 3.8, suddenly loves to be UNDER our temprapedic pillows which are very heavy. He loves to stack them over his legs and body. I have a feeling he would LOVE a weighted blanket. I recently looked them up on Amazon and was shocked how expensive they are! It is awesome of you to give one away so generously.

  16. That is very cool of you to share your proceeds. These blankets are not cheap! Thanks for a great giveaway. My son would Love it!

  17. I would love to have a weighted blanket! They sound amazing. I love the feeling of being snug and/or having things on top of me, and a weighted blanket might help me with my sleep issues.

  18. My 7 year old daughter loves her weighted blanket at school, would be great to have one at home as well.
